It has a population of 37,000 (2005) which represents a 1.2% growth from the previous year. Bathurst is the home of Ben Chifley, one of Australia’s best loved ‘wartime’ Prime Ministers, the Mt Panorama Racing Circuit, Charles Sturt University, and has a strong manufacturing and agricultural sector.
